Job description:
Overview
Established physician launching a new shoulder, elbow and sports medicine private practice preparing to launch and hire a PA-C by mid-November. The Physician Assistant will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care to shoulder, elbow and sports medicine patients. This position requires 2 to 4 years of clinic and OR work experience in an orthopedic office. Qualified candidates will have excellent patient assessment skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations and vital signs monitoring.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations and develop treatment plans based on clinical findings.
- Administer medications, and injections, as needed.
- Provide acute pain management and triage patients effectively in emergency situations.
- Assist MD in surgical procedures and manage patients in the operating room (OR) setting.
- Positions, preps and drapes the patient in preparation for surgery.
- Utilize EMR systems using Dr. Chrono for accurate medical record keeping.
- Closes surgical wounds and performs post-operative wound care.
- Orders appropriate tests and develops patient treatment plans under the direction and approval of physician.
- Performs minor procedures, joint injections and aspirations.
- Prescribes medications, as directed by physician protocols and documents in patient’s chart.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient management.
- Engage in health coaching and education for patients regarding their conditions and treatments.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and NCQA standards in all patient interactions.
- Other duties as required by physician and the practice.
Qualifications
- 2-4 years proven experience in clinic, surgical centers, hospital settings environments. Orthopedic Required.
- Familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding and CPT coding for accurate billing processes.
- Proficiency in performing suturing, suture removal, and other procedural skills relevant to patient care.
- Experience with sports medicine and worker's comp is a plus.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and infection control practices.
- Ability to collect data effectively for clinical research purposes.
- Familiarity with telehealth practices to provide remote patient consultations when necessary.

Required:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with completed residency.
- Current IL state licensure
- Current DEA license
